Martin County Chapter of FNPS was a Saw Grass Sponsor this year! Thank you Chapter members! We need to encourage FNPS ExComm and BOD to include a regular sponsorship in future, as our finances will allow. There is a great outreach opportunity here.

The Conference presented five plenary sessions with panelists led by a moderator covering aspects of the theme “Everglades Restoration:  Worth Every Penny.” On Saturday there were two sections of 4 breakout sessions delving into eight topics in more detail. (See brochure for listings at evergladescoalition.org)

On Friday afternoon several field trips showed off the St Lucie Inlet area and nearby beaches and coastal habitats. On Sunday MCFNPS sponsored a trip to Allapattah Flats to see what was purchased with county, state and federal money.

An effort to shorten the time of planning and getting to completed projects is underway, called the Central Everglades Planning Process. Public participation of stakeholder workshops are scheduled. Next one Jan 25 at 1 pm in West Palm Beach at the Water Management District.

The Quarterly meeting of the Coalition was held on Thursday. Watch for a posting of resolutions and positions made at that meeting.

Any questions that I might help with? Let me know. FNPS rep to EvCo, Joan B
